WMGOC Evening Meet & Guest Speaker
An evening meet at The Flower Pots in Cheriton with a guest speaker — this time on ‘The Characters of SOE in WW2’. A good excuse to get out once the nights start drawing in.
We meet from 19:00. All members and their guests are very welcome.
WMGOC Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting at The Flower Pots in Cheriton — a chance to hear how the club is doing, have your say on how we run things, and vote on club matters for the year ahead.
All members are encouraged to attend. We start at 19:00 prompt. Agenda and any formal papers will be circulated in advance via the newsletter.
Heritage Open Days – WMGOC Parade
We’re taking part in Winchester’s Heritage Open Days again with our annual classic and sportscar parade through the city. Meet at St Catherine’s Hill Park & Ride from 11:00, and we head off at 12 noon — and this year, for the first time, we’ll finish with a static display in Busket Yard, just behind the central bus station.
We’ll be alongside King Alfred Buses on the Broadway, who are running free vintage services around the area, so between us there should be a proper vintage street scene. The Mayor is pencilled in to come along and pick some prize winners.
We need helpers on the day, especially parking marshals to get cars parked up and off the one-way system quickly — please let Steve know if you can lend a hand.
The static display finishes at Busket Yard, SO23 9BA. You can view the full parade route here: Route map. Below is an illustration of what will happen near Busket Yard.
Gosport Vehicle Rally – WMGOC Display
CANCELLED - sadly the organisers called this year’s rally off because of the wildfire risk after such a dry summer. Hopefully we’ll be back at Stokes Bay next year.
We’ll be joining the Gosport Vehicle Rally & Family Fun Day at Stokes Bay as a club display on the August Bank Holiday, with a gazebo up for shelter — a brilliant way to show off your MG to a wide audience of classic car enthusiasts.
To bring your car along, book direct with the organisers (£5 per car) and say you’re with the Winchester MG Owners Club so we’re allocated a place in our area. Closing date for the club stand allocation is 23rd August. Gates from 09:30 and cars need to be in place by 10:00 at the latest; the rally runs through until 16:00.
WMGOC Club Run – Chichester
As we’re near the longest days of the year, this is a longer-than-usual club run from the Alrebury Cafe car park in Alresford down to Chichester, finishing at The Richmond Arms in West Ashling.
We’ll stop for drinks, and people can travel back home at their leisure.
WMGOC Club Run – Classic Motor Hub
Club run out to the Classic Motor Hub in Bourton-on-the-Water — a great excuse for a scenic drive through the Cotswolds. We’ll have a browse and a drink before everyone makes their own way back.
WMGOC Club Run – Half Moon & Spread Eagle
Wednesday evening club run out to the Half Moon & Spread Eagle. We’ll have a drink at the pub before everyone makes their own way back. Meeting point details will be circulated to members closer to the date.
WMGOC Visit to Science Museum Collection, Wroughton
Join us for a group visit to the Science Museum's national collection at Wroughton Airfield, near Swindon — a hidden gem that rarely opens its doors to the public.
The site houses an extraordinary range of aircraft, large vehicles and objects from the national collection, many of which spend their days quietly stored away from public view. It's a unique day out, and an excuse to point the MG northwards for a run through Wiltshire.
